Howard R. Rubin, J.D.

RubinMr. Rubin is a partner at the law firm of Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP and is regarded as one of the leading attorneys in the country representing independent medical specialty practices in high-stakes litigation and government investigations as well as on health care policy and regulatory issues.

Over the last decade, Mr. Rubin has devoted a substantial part of his practice to serving as counsel to medical associations. At the state level, his clients have included single-specialty and multi-specialty coalitions and medical societies in California, Florida, Maryland, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. At the national level, Mr. Rubin serves as legal counsel to the Digestive Health Physicians Association, whose membership includes more than 1,000 physicians in 36 integrated gastroenterology practices, and the Large Urology Group Practice Association, with more than 2,200 urologists in over 120 medical practices. The common theme that runs through the work Mr. Rubin does for these organizations is defending the high quality, cost-efficient, integrated care furnished in the independent medical practice setting.

Mr. Rubin received his BA, summa cum laude, from the University of Miami and his JD, with high honors, from Duke University School of Law, where he was an editor on the Duke Law Journal. He previously served as a law clerk to the Honorable Sam J. Ervin III, Chief Judge of the US Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. Mr. Rubin also serves as the national chair of Katten’s Appellate and Supreme Court Litigation Practice.
