Dear Colleagues,

Thank you for visiting this website! We hope you will be joining us for GI Roundtable 2017, the 7th installment of our annual health policy and practice management conference for gastroenterologists and GI practice administrators.

The conference will be held at the Worthington Renaissance Hotel in Fort Worth, TX, one of the premier conference locations in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, only a short drive from the easily accessible DFW airport.

GIRT 2017 will once again emphasize the exchange of ideas between attendees, faculty and industry participants through an interactive program and networking sessions in a collegial and relaxed atmosphere.

In addition to time-tested roundtable discussions on strategic and operational practice issues, GIRT 2017 will break new ground by putting a specific focus on “Legal Aspects of GI Practice”. We will be addressing “everything that might need a lawyer in the GI practice”, i.e. malpractice and liability issues, risk reduction strategies, transactional legal matters, payor contracting, labor and employment issues, and much more.

We are exceedingly fortunate to have Michelle M. Mello, JD, PhD join us to provide the opening keynote address for this event. Dr. Mello holds a unique dual appointment as Professor of Law and Public Health at both Stanford and Harvard University and is widely regarded as one of the leading authorities in the field of medical malpractice and tort reform.

GIRT 2017 will be co-directed by Andrew Feld, MD, JD, himself a well-known expert in GI-related liability issues, and by Joshua Kaye, Esq, the Chair, US Healthcare Sector for DLA Piper, the world’s largest law firm.

Please enjoy reviewing the program and consider joining us for GIRT 2017. These are critically important times for gastroenterologists, and one of the best ways to deal with the rapidly changing healthcare environment is to come together, learn from each other’s successes and failures, and jointly develop strategies to keep our practices well positioned for future success.

We hope to see you in Fort Worth in March!

Best regards,

Klaus Mergener, M.D., Ph.D.
